We are a small, independent author mentor & editing service, with decades of experience. We teach our clients the skills they need to write brilliant books that people want to read. We mentor writers to become resilient, confident authors who can navigate the industry. We guide them to find the right approach for them to promote their books.
We particularly specialise in supporting neurodivergent authors to keep on task, utilise hyperfocus in the right way and be kind to themselves so they don't burn out.
The founder of NYN, Claire Beesley, is a neurodivergent author, coach and editor who set up NYN after she recognised there was a big gap in new writers' knowledge and understanding about the book industry, what it takes to write a good novel, the mindset needed to keep going and the skills required to structure a book that readers will love.
What people say...
If you are looking for a professional editing service but don't know who to choose, then I highly recommend Nurture Your Novel. Claire is exceptional. Her approach to editing is really professional, and yet it feels as though you are working with a close friend. She makes you feel completely positive as a writer, boosting your confidence in your own ability, while offering great advice. Her suggested amendments work so perfectly with your own writing, so it doesn't feel as though your voice is being lost from your own work.
This is my first time working with a professional editor, and I am so grateful I found Claire! She adapted to my schedule, gave clear and concise notes and worked efficiently. I appreciated how she quickly picked up on my specific writing style, so that her edits would not detract or change my intentions. She was also thoughtful enough to leave some positive notes throughout, such as reactions to the plot.
I would definitely work with Nurture Your Novel again, and I can't recommend Claire enough!
Writing blurbs can be so painful and Claire was able to break it down in an understandable process with the kind of knowledge and experience that is not found in most editors. She responds and works fast, is very reliable and transparent, which is always a plus. Finding Claire has been a real blessing and I have no regrets going over my budget for her service. She’s a one-of-a-kind and I would be happy to hire her again for my next books.
